Four ways to study with us
You can join us in person at our centre in London, or live online in the classroom.
Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy
Our main qualification, and the route into professional practice. Ten intermittent weekends combining theoretical knowledge, practical therapeutic skills and ethical professional practice. Graduates use the designating letters PDCH.

Advanced Short Courses
Focused training for qualified practitioners who want to go deeper in a particular area of clinical practice — including our Advanced Short Course in Trauma, PTSD and EMDR Therapy.

Medical Diploma for Healthcare Professionals
A route designed for those already working in healthcare who want to use hypnosis within their existing clinical role, alongside the professional standards their own field requires.

The same classroom, whether you travel to it or not
Our hybrid teaching model means live online students attend the same session, at the same time, as the students in the room — not a recording, and not a separate cohort. Practical work is supervised either way.

Who can apply
Whether you are seeking to train as a hypnotherapist or simply have an interest in this fascinating subject, our training is open to you.
No experience needed
You do not need any previous experience of hypnosis or related subjects to study with us.
An interview first
Because hypnotherapy involves working with the public, we ask you to attend an interview with a college officer — in London or by video call.
18 and over
You must be 18 years of age or above to enrol on the course.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need any prior experience of hypnosis?
No. You do not need any previous experience of hypnosis or related subjects. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds — commerce, industry, healthcare, therapy and domestic life — and many go on to practise full-time or part-time to supplement their income.
How much time will I need outside the teaching weekends?
In addition to classroom hours, an essential part of the course is an independent guided study programme using our online e-learning facility. You will also need to complete tasks and assignments, self-directed research and revision, and attend a minimum of four personal tutorials.
Is studying online the same as being in the room?
You attend the same live session at the same time either way. We place strong emphasis on the practical element of your training, and practice sessions are always overseen by your lecturer or supervisor, in the classroom or online.
Do I have to join a professional association?
Yes. In accordance with good ethical practice it is mandatory to join ThinkTree Hub or the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) as a Student Member. These are international professional associations promoting and assuring high standards in complementary therapy healthcare, wellness and wellbeing.
What about insurance?
While on the course you need professional indemnity insurance. Discounted insurance is available through your membership of ThinkTree Hub or BSCH.
What can I do once I qualify?
You will be able to enter professional practice as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, online or in person, initially under clinical supervision in accordance with good ethical practice. You will also be able to use the designating letters PDCH after your name, and to upgrade your ThinkTree Hub or BSCH membership. Many of our graduates go on to set up their own practice, or add hypnotherapy as an adjunct to an existing one. Graduates are encouraged to maintain membership of a recognised professional body as part of their ongoing professional practice.
