An eclectic, well-rounded route into confident practice
We help you build a firm foundation of knowledge as you explore various approaches to effectively, safely and ethically treat the most common presenting symptoms for hypnotherapy — weight management, insomnia, phobias and, of course, smoking cessation.
Your progression through the course takes you from learning the basics through to the application of the therapeutic approaches most appropriate for your clients. Eclectic in nature, the course enables you to become an accomplished, well-rounded and confident hypnotherapist.
We pride ourselves in helping you become an effective and knowledgeable therapist. This course forms an important part of that process.
How the Diploma is taught
The Practitioner Diploma is part-time, delivered over ten intermittent weekends — usually once a month — in a classroom setting or live online attendance in the classroom.
Practical skills first
We demonstrate the techniques we teach before guiding you through their practical application. You practise every technique we teach — and experience trance yourself, which many students find changes their confidence as much as their competence.
Guided independent study
Alongside classroom hours, an online e-learning facility gives you lecture videos, quizzes, audio files, reading material and other resources, plus tasks, assignments, self-directed research and revision.
Personal tutorials
You attend a minimum of four personal tutorials — time to work on your clinical case study, go over anything you need clarified, and speak with an experienced clinical hypnotherapist.
Comprehensive weekend workbooks are provided throughout Core learning, strategies, theoretical background, hypnosis scripts, references, appendices and ongoing activities to help you assess your progress.

What you can do when you qualify
You will be awarded the Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy on successful completion of the course. This means you will be able to enter professional practice as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, online or in person, initially under clinical supervision in accordance with good ethical practice.
Clinical supervision is where you see an experienced hypnotherapist to reflect on your practice — a time to think about your knowledge and how you use your skills. Its purpose is to enhance your understanding and protect your clients.
The diploma is a working qualification: most graduates begin seeing clients of their own, while others bring hypnotherapy into an existing professional role.

Practitioner Diploma FAQs
Do I need previous experience of hypnosis?
No. Whether you are seeking to train as a hypnotherapist or simply have an interest in this fascinating subject, this course is open to you. You do not need to have had any previous experience of hypnosis or related subjects to study with us.
Why is there an interview?
Because hypnotherapy involves working with members of the public. The interview — at our offices in London or via video call — establishes your understanding of spoken and written English, and checks whether there are any medical reasons that need to be taken into consideration before accepting you onto the programme.
Can I study entirely online?
Yes. You can attend live online in the classroom rather than in person in London. It is the same live session either way, and practice sessions are always overseen by your lecturer or supervisor.
How is the course assessed?
Assessment runs through the course rather than sitting at the end of it: tasks and assignments, self-directed research, a clinical case study, and a minimum of four personal tutorials with an experienced clinical hypnotherapist. Weekend workbooks include ongoing activities designed to help you assess your own progress.
What does the fee include?
The £3,200 fee includes VAT and covers the ten teaching weekends, your weekend workbooks and access to the online e-learning facility. Professional association membership and professional indemnity insurance are arranged separately — discounted insurance is available through ThinkTree Hub or BSCH membership. Please confirm the current fee with us before enrolling.
